2024 and beyond
Often this time of year is seen as providing a moment for reflection as well as a time to plan ahead, and this year is no exception. However, for us at the Scottish Community Mediation Centre some things are new this year. 2024 saw the launch of our new website, new LinkedIn and BlueSky accounts and a fresh perspective on the courses we offer. Feedback from learners makes our job so worthwhile and reinforces our belief that what we deliver in training matters to people.
From commissioning bodies to learners, we have this year heard how much of a difference the skills learnt make to people’s work and home lives. So, what about 2025?
During the year we’ve met many wonderful people from across all sectors. And we’ve learnt lots. One of the things that we have learnt is that there is a need for us to offer mediators and restorative practitioners opportunities for continuing professional development. After discussions, we’re pleased to be able to offer four workshops in 2025 - more news to come in the new year. We continuously reflect on feedback and review our delivery options. In 2025 we expect to continue to use Zoom, but also to hold more training in person, using venues both in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
With a revival of our quarterly newsletters in 2024, we look forward to keeping everyone updated, but also to expand our resources. Work is underway to develop podcasts and a bank of case studies. These case studies will be varied; from restorative and mediation practice to how previous learners have gone on to implement their new-found skills in their work and lives, we hope our new case studies in 2025 will guide and inspire. We’re keen to hear from all those who we have met and trained in the past and understand how your learning has changed you.
So as the final few shopping days before Christmas countdown, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support in 2024 and wish you and yours a good Christmas and a peaceful new year.
